The New York State Police reported on Friday, Aug. 20, that break-ins have recently been reported in the Town of Union Vale, the Village of Millbrook and the Town of Washington. State Police said the vehicles are being entered or stolen in part due to the fact that owners left their vehicles unlocked with the keys inside.
State Police in Poughkeepsie are asking that residents with home surveillance cameras who live at the following locations check the footage from Tuesday, Aug. 17 between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m.:
- Hoofprint Road in Union Vale
- Fountain Place in Millbrook
- Weatherford Lane in Millbrook
- Horseshoe Road in the Town of Washington
- Verbank Road in the Town of Washington
- Maple Hill Road in the Town of Washington
- Rodrigo Court in the Town of Washington
New York State Police advised residents to always lock their vehicles and to close all windows, including sunroofs. Police also said residents should never leave keys, valuables or personal identification in the vehicle.
Anyone with information on the break-ins is asked to contact Investigator Melilli at carmelo.melilli@troopers.ny.gov or call 845-677-7379. Tips can also be provided by contacting Investigator Robert Lombardi of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force at 914-925-3812 or at robert.lombardi@troopers.ny.gov.
